My month of 10000 steps is over. Dispite the gym being closed today I managed to get lots of steps at work and reached more then my goal by finising the day with a walk (with Pat no less). That's a long winded way of saying I made it. 10000 steps every day in September. My avarage is 13214.47, not bad.
After this month I have realized what a pain in the ass it can be. I pretty much had to stick to the treadmill in the gym, the elliptical just does not give as many steps. Because I go to the gym every day (for an hour) and I want to start mixing it up you will see lower step counts at least every other day. Those days the elliptical and weights will be on the menu. Hopefully I can get a little faster while running only every other day.

If found please return ASAP
I have lost my sense of style. Or more to the point the world has lost it's sense of style.
I went shopping for work cloths and to say that I am disappointed is an understatement. Pants I can still find with out too many strange embellishments. The legs seem to be longer then they used to be which is the one fashion trend that I agree with. I like having my ankles covered, I don't show off my socks.
It's covering my top that I have problems with. It's either too cold (it's freezing in the office), too strange or too hard to take care of. I don't dry clean. Allot of the tops appeared to be maternity-ish. Maybe that's because I have a pregnant sister and a sister in law that just gave birth. seeing so many maternity cloths may have made me see that style in normal cloths, but I doubt it. I think I will blame all the pregnant celebrities. They are affecting the normal fashions and making them ugly! (actually Liz has some very nice looking maternity cloths, Angela avoids the camera so I'm not sure).
To avoid cloths that are too cold and too strange, that leaves sweaters. I am sick of wearing sweaters year round. Though they keep me warm a change is desperately needed. I'm in a serious clothing rut that even shopping apparently can not solve.

The Haircut
It's been LONG over due, so I went for a haircut. I took off 4 inches (or a little more). Don't worry there is plenty left. The hair place is right next to the laundry mat which made easy to go while the cloths were washing. I was glad to have something more amusing to do then watch my cloths spin in the washer.
Anyway not only was it obvious that I got my haircut because allot was cut off, but Pat knew that's where I was going. I made it back just as the cloths were done washing. It could not have been timed better! As we were throwing the cloths into the dryer I asked Pat what he thought.
'About what?' was his reply.
'are you kidding' I asked to which he gave me a confused look, followed by it dawning on him exactly what I was asking.
'It look s nice' Seriously Pat? I know if I had waited you would have given me your opinion. But what's with the cluelessness? Though I'm glad you like the cut.
At least he was slightly vindicated. As he left to take the hang-to-dry cloths home. I asked that he not take very long as he is bringing me food on his way back. Because it appeared that he had not heard/was not paying attention I asked him to repeat what I said.
With a laugh he repeated it verbatim*. Don't you worry I'll get him next time.
*For the reccord I actully spelled verbetim correctly with out spellcheck, Go me!

Best Laid Plans
Today was one of the few days Purdue is on TV (football). I had the whole day planned out so I could get everything done not only before the game was finished but to also leave nothing to do on Sunday (It is supposed to be nice tomorrow).
I had the laundry all sorted and ready to go when Pat veto'd my getting laundry done on a Saturday. Oh the Horror, laundry on a Saturday!
Skipping the laundry, I went to the Gym and got a great workout in. After a quick shower I was off to STS to get my oil changed. Apparently everyone else in Somerset had the same plans and had came in just before me, their was a 1 ½ hour wait. Needless to say I skipped the oil change and went to tacobell for lunch. (It's going to be a junk food day, I LOVE junk food!).
After that I went to the bank, I still had hopes for the rest of my list. I'm not sure why as it took all morning to get 2 things crossed off my list. I was determined to get the final 2 erronds crossed off my list, leaving enough time to cook Junk food before the game.
My next stop was Petsmart where I was supposed to pick up a new water bottle for the girls. The old one leaks a lot, though it is worse when it is less then half full. I wanted to replace it for when we went on trips and had to leave them for 4 days. I just don't want to take the chance they will get wet when we are not home to dry them (chinchilla's can not get wet). Anyway I found a neat flip top bottle that I figured would be easy to clean. I picked up a few other odds and ends before running to my favorite grocery store, Wegman's. Someday I will write a whole post on the goodness that is Wegman's.
Unfortunitly all the pizza dough was frozen (not that it stopped me from stocking up). I was worried that I would have less junk food to eat while watching the game.
With all of the errands done I set out on making a very unhealthy yet delishous array of foods to eat whaile watching Purdue beat Noterdame. I started thawing the Pizza, Brownie bites were in the oven and Pat picked up NJ's best wings (actully their only good wings) from Chicken Holiday.
I sat down with my bottle of wine and very much enjoyed the first half. It's a pity my team left the stadium after the first half. Purdue lost the second half, Miserably, it was devistating to watch. They just couldn't prevent Notrdame from scoring and to make it worse they coulddn't get anyware near the end-zone. If they don't get better I'll not beable to watch them play very often on tv. And when I do it will be the same or worse then the game yesterday.
Oh and now I get to be on the recieving end of the 'my team killed your team' phone call on Monday. Sigh.

Seriously?
I went to the happy hour and it was fun. I do wonder why I had to get a plastic cup when every one else got glass cups. Apparently bars don't trust people that drink non alcholic beverages with glass. Seriously I may stay too sober to hold onto a glass and I will break it. hrm.
After getting home and cooking dinner the gym was closed. I had to get my steps by walking around the neighborhood in the dark. Not my favorite activity. Pat of course hates the idea but he couldn't come (he was working in the rain all day, wild horses could not get him outside). Not that he did not voice his displeasure before I left. Obviously he was not that worried as he was asleep when I got home.
On the last walk I was hit on by some guy riding around the neighborhood, but I was hoping for an uneventful walk. Alas something about the nighttime brings out the strange men. (at least they were not hitting on me). This time they just added me into the conversation. He apparently had a great day and wanted to let me know. I'm not sure why. I will talk to anyone during the day, but if I don't know you leave me alone after dark. Well, ok not everyone, if you are male leave me alone. I want nothing to do with you. Of course Pat's warning/worry didn't leave me in a trusting mood.

To go or not to go
Friday is Happy hour at work. If I go I will miss the gym, If i miss the gym It will be very hard/annoying to get my 10000 steps. I am determined to get the steps every day this month and it is way too late in the month to fail. On the other hand they don't do happy hours often and it would be fun to go.
We shall see.

I'm Sorry
I don't know why but I have managed to be late again. I actually went shopping months previous and couldn't find something that I thought Angela would like. So I procrastinated. I love shopping for baby cloths, but I like very babyish cloths and I'm pretty sure Angela will not.
Today I finally went back out and found an outfit that I'm pretty sure you couldn't have a problem with. It's cute but sporty, and it has a tribute to dad (Zach's dad) on it. I hope you like it. I even passed up a cute 'work out outfit' because it had bear ears on the hood.
I feel bad, It's a pattern. I wanted to get you something awesome for your wedding too. And I did, I was so excited to find it. It would have came in very handy too, if I hadn't left it behind. You see Pat isn't good at finding things, it's just not one of his strong points. As we have been together he has become better at not loosing stuff, he says that I am good enough for the both of us. I am very adept at loosing things so that neither of us can find it. Not that the gift was lost I knew exactly where it was, I just could not convey it's position to Pat.
As you already know the perfect gift became useless in it's tardiness. I thought about mailing it to your hotel on your honeymoon, but I really didn't want to be the psycho family member to contact you on your honeymoon. Really, I just couldn't go there.
I suppose it can be a story you can ponder over when your 90. Remember your sister got us those useless maps for our wedding? How funny!!
Any way I plan on being better. I have a few years to practice before Zach will remember his Aunt Sarah sent him his birthday gift (months) late. I'll take this time to prepair a plan to get him his birthday gifts on time. Though if I am late maybe you could put a positive spin on it, like telling him he gets an extra day to celebrate his birthday, you never know he just may go for it.

The Motivator
For months I have been going to they gym every day. Lately the motivation has been waning a little. Switching up the workout Sunday helped but did not cure my issues. Today at the Gym one of the regulars who had taken a hiatus (walking outside instead) came back. She has lost a total of 50 lbs so far. She plans to loose another 10 by her birthday (Thanksgiving).
One reason she is so motivating is her weight loss. Much more motivating however is her happy/motivated personality. She is genuinely happy to be working out every day! She realizes that it was working out and eating better that got her as far as she has come and will get her to her final goal. Being happy with the fitness that she has and striving for her fitness goals makes me motivated to reach my own.
I am running 45 minutes every night and I'm slowly getting faster and feeling better. starting next month I will do the elliptical and weights every other night. After all I want to be in shape at the beginning of the ski season. And I'm definitely on the correct path.

Foiled
This month I decided to get the 10000 recommended steps per day, every day. It is going great. There were only a few days that it was hard to do. today was one of them. I got home late after going grocery shopping and was in no mood for the gym. But I sucked it up and wet to the gym for my 10000 steps. I was on a different treadmill then normal today (I'm a creature of habit) and noticed a new sign.
The Gym is closed 9/30 (as well as 7 more days coming up). To make it worse it's a weekday. During the week I get 3000-4000 steps until I get home and can make it to the gym.
The last day of my 10000 step month will be a struggle. I will likely have to walk at lunch as it will be too dark out when I get home.

The day of cleaning
My workout today started horribly. For some reason when I got to the gym was exhausted. I couldn't even bring myself to run so I wormed up for 15 minutes, walking. Then I hit the machines for a change of pace. After I got good and worked out I hit the elliptical for 45 minutes for some reason once I got all wormed up the cardio felt great! I guess it was better that I was too tired to run I got a better workout in.
After the workout I moved on with my day to get the cleaning done.
Today I tossed out the old carpet. I was very happy to get rid of it. The chinchilla dust is apparently so thin that it actually got under the carpet. I spent a good portion of my morning sweeping and cleaning the floor, then rewashing a few more times for good measure. After I put down the new linoleum I cleaned the heck out of the girls cage. I scrubbed every inch of the cage. Then I hit the Kitchen It actually was not all that dirty (except for the floor). It felt good nun the less.
The bane of my weekend was the bathroom drain. it is extremely slow. I hit it with Drano twice and still it's slow. I'll have to call the front desk and let them deal with it.
*****Update- I'm not sure why it took so long but it worked fine this morning! the morning after*****

Tales of Home Depot
I finally made it to Home Depot. Our vacuum broke a few WEEKS ago and I needed to either replace it or get new flooring for under the girls cage. I tried to give Pat an option, he wanted a say. However he did not want to tell me what he wanted (I'm not a mind reader). Every time I asked he replied 'I'll let you know.'
So sick of the mess that was accumulating under the cage, I made up his mind for him.
I chose to get floor that could be easily swept and washed. I went to Home Depot for either a thick plastic mat or a linoleum floor. They must have been busy because I had to wait a while. As I was waiting an employee came over with another customer. (I was standing by the counter hoping someone would come over). He took a break from helping the other lady to ask me if I was waiting for help. Are you kidding me? Why else would I stand by the counter? I replied that indeed I was waiting for help.
Anyway the plastic mats are all made for offices with carpet. All but one had the evil spikes (which keep the mat in place on the carpet). That one was not wide enough. Unfortunately that was the only thickness it came in. So I asked for a piece of linoleum and he took me over to some pre-cut pieces. 6X8, Perfect!
Pat was happy with his decision too.

Aunt Squared
Despite my second nephew's reluctance to come and meet the world, he was born today. He weighted in at at 8 lbs. I thought he would be bigger after all that extra cooking. Even Angela accused him of fattening up in her belly as he was so comfortable hanging out in there. He must have enjoyed all the bouncing (caused by the running). I'm glad they finally forced the kid out!
I look forward to meeting him!

Blogspot
I'm adding all of my old livejournal posts to this blog. Apparently after 30-40 posts in one day blogspot starts to authenticate the posts. I got almost all the way through July today before I had to type the letters in the box to prove that I am human and not spam. Interesting.
Today on the way to work I got into a fender bender. I was rear-ended. Sigh. The Impact felt pretty strong so I was very nervous to look at the damage, actually I thought the car may be totalled. My car is paid off and I really do not want another car payment. Turns out there is little visable damage. Once it goes to a body shop to check for damage under the bumper I'll be more then happy to put this behind me.

Work
I work with a few different Insurance companies. Today I heard from one that had an issue (not with me or my company).
She had a customer that was looking to have the adjuster pay for her rental bill. The adjuster had her name address and knew that she was renting from us. Normally an easy task. The adjuster needed to know what branch she rented from, so she asked. Easy right? The customer refused to give her the information. When the adjuster asked how she was supposed to pay for the rental with out the information. The customer actually said 'you'll figure it out'.
Seriously?!? You want money from the insurance company but refuse to give them the information that will allow them to pay for your rental. What world do you live in? If you want money from a company you should make it as easy as possible for them to get it to you.
Asking where you rented from makes their lives easier and allows for what you want to get done faster. Is it that hard to give a town's name? It's unfortunate The adjuster can't just say that she'll reimburse her when a paid bill is submitted, it may get more information out of her.
Don't worry I found the rental and the insurance company will pay for it.

Last Laugh
Pat's loan bill came in the mail and he noticed that we paid a lot more in interest this month. I went on-line to check his account and to make sure that he remembered correctly (he did). Our interest was over $50 more this month.
Being the wonderful wife I'm known to be I gave him a call to let him know. His first question was 'Why?'
I don't know dear, I can't call and get information from your loan company.
It was a beautiful thing. He's going to call to ask about the interest and hopefully ask them to allow me to ask questions for him. Also to pay off those pesky little loans off and get them out of the way.

The Mommy Wife
My coworker that just got married was speaking to me about her husband loosing his birth certificate. Unfortunately they wanted to travel outside the US to visit family. She is running around trying to get a copy so they can renew his passport. I wondered why he was not doing this for himself. It made me think of stuff that I dd for Pat that maybe he should be handeling for himself.
I have been taking a stand (mostly) lately. If it's important Pat will do it himself. A few reminders are ok but he can take responsibility for himself.
On a similar note, Pat does not like to clean. I am sick of asking him. So to solve my problem I made a fairly detailed chore chart. when we do a chore we put a sticker by the item. He will easily be able to see what needs to be cleaned (why a list is needed I'm not sure but bear with me) and clean it. Hopefully this will help with the distribution of labor.
*I feel that I must add that Pat does clean the kitchen on Saturday mornings without being asked most weekends, and cooks 1-2 nights a week. Who does the rest, I'm not sure.
Today's Steps; 15515
for instance, Pat's second wisdom tooth has not yet been removed. Apparently the first one did not hurt enough. I have reminded him a few times and I'm done. He is definitely old enough to make his own appointments. If he wanted to get the other wisdom tooth out before it started hurting he has had a few reminders.

Football
Yesterday was one of the few days Purdue was on TV! Watching them agin was great. We went out to dinner part way through the game, so we sat at the bar so I could see the end of the game. It was quite the nail biter. Purdue missed a potentially game winning field goal in the final seconds of the game sending it into overtime. Unfortunately after a few back and fourths Purdue lost the game. I hope to see more of them on TV, but they had better start winning or they will not be on TV.
Today we went to Hooters to watch Buffalo beat Jacksonville. I must say despite what they say men do not go to Hooters for the wings (the wings suck, Pat just has no tastebuds left). Men also do not go to the Princeton Hooters for the women. None of them were obese but they had bellies (I can talk because I do not dress like that, because of my belly).
The games were exciting (I also Watched Brees play on the next screen over). We left as soon as the bills game was over, unfortunately Brees's game had 5 minutes left. It must have been a disastrous 5 minutes because Washington scored twice to win the game. Congratulations Uncle BJ.

The $ Dilemma
Ok it wasn’t a dilemma for me but (financial) message boards seem to have one person that posts the question ‘if you were given extra change would you return it?’
My answer is yes, for the most part. (if your store is far away and I don’t realize the mistake, your out of luck I’m not driving an hour to return your $.)
Today at the bank I received an extra $50. I went to grab something to eat (Taco bell, Yummy). While in line at the drive through I counted the cash received (by the way you should always do this AT the bank). That is when the realization struck that he had given me too much money. Luckily I wasn’t too far from the bank as they closed shortly after leaving the first time, I made it back with plenty of time to return the cash.
Other wise it would have had to happen next Saturday and that may have been a strange conversation.

Rainy Day Picnick
Today was the yearly picnic for the insurance company that I work with. It is the first year (of 3) I have been able to go, and it rained. Pored really. It was in a large pavilion so we could all stay mostly dry. Most of the activities however were cancelled. They did the baseball game before the rain hit, the free shot just after. But the potato sack race and a few other activities were canceled. At least their was lots of food and plenty of people to sing karaoke. Most were scary, a few were good. It was a great time in the end and I’m very glad I was able to go this year.
Hopefully next year it will be sunny!

Perfect Day
Today was the perfect day. This morning the company I work with brought in Bagels for breakfast. Then my boss took me out for lunch. Then I left early to get the girls food (ok so I got a little lost that does not detract from my day). I still missed all the traffic for the Rutgers football game and when I arrived home the gym was already open. I had a Great workout. Instead of walking for a cool down interval I turned up the speed and ran a little faster. I think I'm finally getting into shape!
To top it all off Pat pulled up to the gym as I was leaving. It was kind of cool being chauffeured home!

Anti-Nesting
After Graduating from Purdue I couldn't wait to buy a house and make it my own. We concentrated on paying off student loans and general savings. Now we are 2-3 years away from paying off the loans and to tell you the truth I'm not so hot on buying a house any more. We are not having children so we don't really need a house and yard. Pat is not all that handy and doesn't like to work much, so repairs will be done by me (also not all that handy) or paid to someone else. The driving desire to own a home is gone.
Apartments have maintenance people to take care of everything at no additional cost. You can design them as you would like (minor things like paint). Though you are stuck with the current state of appliances and Major design (floors exct) your stuck with. In a way that saves you cash, you can't remodel so you won't. I don't know it just seems like a good deal to me.
Unfortunately Pat has been bitten by the house bug, maybe he'll talk me into it again.

Finance
Pat and I are still working on paying off his student loans. Though I keep asking he will not call the loan company to give me permission to instruct them on which loans I would like paid off first. He thinks I'm micromanaging (i'll admit on this blog i am a little). It gets the 3 smallest loans paid off in the next 3 months! Seriously that would feel good. Then I want to pay off the non-staffard loans by smallest to largest. The Stafford loans I will leave for the end, despite the fact that they are smaller (they are subsidized if he ever needs to defer them). But he forgets and doesn't see it as important, sigh.
I'm trying to find a way around it, wish me luck.

The Trainor II
After getting into an argument with Pat I went to the Gym. It took me allot longer then normal to get into my workout (to enjoy it). Mr. Trainer came over 1/2 way through it and mentioned that he had burned 1/2 the calories I had in 8 Minutes on the elliptical. When I pointed out that he should have been able to last more then 8 minutes he simply said that he was tired. It was a good distraction from the arguement with Pat (debating workout strategies is apparently not as stressful), and I enjoyed the rest of my daily workout.

Hole in The Wall
This show is a Japanese Invention. It is interesting though I thought I'd like it better when I saw a clip on cuteoverload.com. I do wonder how they choose the hole it seems that the holes were smaller then the people trying to get through them, even if they got the correct shape. I think I will watch it again some Sunday but I definitly won't rush home to see it.
On a healthier note. I pumped up the speed today at the gym. I got up to an 11 minute mile speed for 5 minutes (don't laugh). It was much easier then the last time it was attempted. It's amazing what a little fitness will do. If patience holds out a 10 minute mile may be in my future. Though i'm still shocked that it's so hard, afterall a fitness article said that a 10 minute mile was a jog! I just can't wait until that's my cooldown speed.

Rainy Day
Usually a good nights sleep gets rid of my oncoming headaches (If they don't get really bad then it's time for tylenol). any way last night I was not so lucky. While the it never turned into a bad headache, it did not go away. I made it to the gym and miraculously that helped allot. While I did an easier workout then normal it really made me feel better. The feeling did not last once showered it came back. For some reason it never got really bad but the annoyingly painful headache just did not go way. Maybe it's the rain.
If it were not for the rain I'd be at 6 flags today. Maybe next weekend.

Why Fitness is Fun
I had the beginnings of a headache tonight so I did not go to the gym, Instead I took a walk around the neighborhood. I am determined this month to get 10000 steps every day, otherwise I would have stayed on the couch! As I was finishing the 2nd (and final) lap I heard a voice from across the street. ' your hot it said' Wow I thought no one else is around but it can't be directed at me, I don't know the guy and it's not a great pick up line. 'your hot' he repeated. So I looked next to me to make sure I hadn't over looked any one (I hadn't) so I looked over at him.
Of course he took this as an invitation to ride his bike across the street, 'your hot, what's your name' wow guy, you are creative!
I could have been nice and asked for his name but I simply replied 'I'm Sara' Can you guess what his reply was? 'your hot'
'I'm also Married' says I 'You must have married young, you have a lucky husband. your hot'
'He is lucky, have a nice night' (as he rode away).
I hope he had better luck later that night, but something tells me he ended up alone at the end of the night.
Of course when Pat got home, Out of nowhere (I hadn't told him the story yet). He says to me 'Your HOT!'
'Apparently' was all I could manage to reply. Of course when he gave me a strange look I told him the above story.

It's A Wonderful Day In The Neighborhood
That's right I have neighbors at work. lots of them. The good thing about getting these new neighbors is that I already know they are nice. And so far it's not too noisy or distracting. It's nice to have people around me.
Today was a strange day at work. Normally the distractions are welcome and break up the call-backs that are done every day. Today was not as much fun. to end out the day Pat called to let me know that football starts today, Football should stay on Sunday's (except for thanksgiving). Leave me the rest of the week, thanks.

The Trainor
Their is a guy at the gym that likes to let me know that I could shorten my workout by using a different machine (while burning the same # of calories) . While it is true, I definitely want to work out for the full hour. I have the time and enjoy the workout. He was a little put off by this and tried to make the point that by dropping 15 minutes off the workout I would over a year gain like 3 extra days. If I could get them together and go on vacation then I'm all for it, but it's not possible, the workout wins.
Now if I could get off work 15 minutes early every day, who would pass it up? More time for the GYM!
On the other hand, what's the obsession with calories? That's only part of the reason to work out. Burn calories so you can eat more! Work out for your health. Their is also the side affect of a wondering mind occasionally. I try to keep it on track but doing the elliptical it's a little harder (despite the fact that i'm more likely to fall over). Any way I got to thinking about pregnancy and working out (as both lillie and angela are still working out). How is it beneficial for a species to have to take it soo easy during pregnancy? At some point we had to run and hide from predators. This doesn't seem so easy when your pregnant.
I really need to get control of my mind!

Guilty
I'm not sure what inspired me but as I was flipping channels I felt a compulsion to watch the new 90210. Yes, It's shame full. In my only defense I didn't watch the whole thing (that would be way too sick!). I flipped back and forth while watching good eats. Maybe i'll watch part of it again but it definitely does not have the pull it did when I was in 4th Grade (or when ever the original came out). It's not surprising but who knows today's 4th graders may appreciate it more then I.
On an unrelated note, my sister in law and sister are both pregnant. My sister in law is due any day now, she is not very patient, I hope he comes soon. I had a strange dream about her last night. She finally had the baby (one week early) and it had Jet black hair (which is in the family but both david and angela are blond). The weirdest part was the name that they chose, David james harry severous kidd III. Um too much Harry Potter anyone?? It was funny I woke up and wondered if the baby had finally made his long awaited appearance. Apparently he's content to hang out a little longer.
With all the pregnancy going around I am having sympathy cravings. At lunch nothing but a PB&J will do so I went to the grocery store and had not only one but 2 PB&J's. I have to say with the sympathy cravings I am having I'm definitely glad I don't have the real thing (for more then one reason). For now I'll do my best to be supportive and eat all the cravings I get for them! (except sushi).

Seriously Cute Stuff
I'm going to spare you another driving post, seeing how we seem to be driving soo much.
It’s nice to spend some time with Dylan. He is so silly and cute at almost 2 years (a great age). His favorite word seems to be Uh-Oh. Apparently it’s the first thing he says in the morning and he will say it periodically through out the day. It’s seriously cute. If you say it to him he'll say it right back with such 2 year old passion!
Another cute incedent I came in from outside the cabin and he was on the phone with grandma and grandpa. He was speaking gibberish to them then giving a little laugh, which made us laugh which made him crack up. This was repeated a few times and was just too cute for words. I can't wait to have 2 more!
