Today started out normal, only a little more tired then normal at the gym. After showering and Putting dinner in (it was a roaster), I went shopping. Just a few short stops, Walmart, the pet store exct.
Soon after I got home the exhaustion set in. Pat was in Hackettstown visiting a friend and by the time he got back all I could do is lie around and hope to get my energy back for Belleyare. Wish me luck I have been looking forward to it for weeks!

The Glass Saga Continues
So I called for a tracking number for my glasses. Per the last e-mail they had shipped, I expected no issues.
The employee had no idea where they were. The e-mail was sent in error. He said the lab had been backed up but that I should have received them by now. He was going to have to e-mail me later with an update. I may have saved lots of cash but these glasses had better be worth the long wait.
On the other hand I took a day off of the gym. I had no motivation and was so tired the day before on the treadmill that I felt a day of rest would help. Tomorrow I'll put that theory to the test.

Happy Birthday
Today is my fathers birthday. I set myself a reminder so I remember to call (don't tell my father). The reminder went off just before I left work for the day. I hit snooze and finished up my work and changed for the gym.
On the way to my car I gave him a call. After saying Hello I started singing. I thought he sounded funny but didn't really think about it until the male voice on the other end started singing with me.
Hello?
hello? pat says
What?
what? pat says
I check my phone to discover that I hit the wrong speed dial.
Um, I ment to call dad. Why were you singing?
I thought he was on the other line or something- pat says.
Nope, but now that I had a pratice run in I could call Dad and do the real thing. That went off without a hitch, Pat even got partial credit for singing when I called him. Dad had a good birthday (thought I was only the 2nd to call, and the first of his children).
Hopefully every one else remembered to call.

Damn Glasses
My glasses were supposed to come last week. 2 weeks the website says. When I called last week they guessed late this week. Yesterday I got impatient and called to see if they had shipped yet. Unfortunately the system was down so he was supposed to e-mail me to let me know the status of the order. He did not.
Today I kept calling the company only to be told they had no one available and I should leave a message. I refuse, I would and did rather call them back 50 times to get an immediate answer rather then wait for them to call me back.
I never did catch anyone on the phone.
They did however finally e-mail me. My glasses were pulled for inspection due to the international shipping. I had to laugh. I like my contacts but would rather have a choice, and waiting on the glasses is driving me crazy. Hopefully they can still make it by Friday but most likely they will get in sometime next week.
At least I purchased 2 pairs so I can have a backup and order more if any get lost. I would not like to end up obsessing about where in the world (literally) my glasses are. The worst part is I figured it would be like most on-line shopping experiences, the package comes on the early end of the shipping range, which only makes me more impatient!

Laundry
Laundry is never a favorite chore in my apartment. Today is the dreaded day, normally we go over to the laundry mat and stay there until it is done. I guess the children running amok is finally getting to Pat as he suggested we give the apartment machines a try. I sent him out for quarters, agreeing to the change.
I must say it was nice dropping off the clothing and coming back just to switch it out. We did have to do more loads (the machines are smaller). Being comfortable and sitting on the couch and reading or watching TV while the cloths were washing was worth it. Also I put the cloths away in groups which seemed better. I had extra time between putting loads away and when the next loads were done. I think it may be a permanent switch. When I realize that I can multi task and get chores done during that time I may well switch back.
It occurs to me in my excitement I repeated the same Rodman story 3 days in a row. I'm leaving it up because frankly when I'm that excited about something I do talk about it incessantly, so blogging about it incessantly is just the way it goes. I will try in the future not to go so far over board.

New Addition
The Rodman's came over last night, bringing with them the dinner table Mom and Dad K purchased for us for a wedding gift. That was about 6 months ago. I got it to their house and it sat in the basement as I tried to figure out how I was going to get it to NJ.
The Rodman's were coming down for a fishing exhibit and were nice enough to bring down the table for us. We put it together today and had our first civilized meal (not counting dinner on the porch in the summer) in over a year. I gave away the old plastic table when we moved, I did not anticipate that I would drag my feet so long on shopping and finding a table.
If you notice the cute cross stitch hanging on the wall above the table, Lillie made it for me and I had it framed. It had just come back and Mom R brought it out for me. I think it looks great with the existing curtains.

Feeling Handy
Tonight I am waiting for Mom and Dad R to arrive with my long awaited kitchen table. In the meantime I finally opened and assembled the base of the table. It even came with it's own (very cheap) wrench. It was a little piece of metal cut perfectly for the screws needed to assemble the table, it even had an angled 'handle' so I could easily install the legs to the base (which is roundish).
Once that was done I set my sights on the shower head. I had purchased a new one and didn't have the proper size wrench to install it. Until tonight. Pat borrowed one from work and I was in business. It actually was very easy and took almost no time at all except one of the shower heads leaked (it was broken and not my fault). the static shower head was working beautifully so I will take the handheld back and get a new one.
I got lots done today and it was great. I'm definitely the handy one of the two of us, if we ever get a house we are in trouble.

Visitors
We will get visitors this weekend. Mom and Dad R are coming for a fishing show in our neighborhood and are stopping by to visit. They are hopefully bringing with them the kitchen table that My parents got us for a wedding gift. Mom K set the table and 2 chairs with the side table they are giving us and whatever fits they are bringing down. I hope the table top fits! I would love to have a kitchen table again.
on another note I picked up a book I have been wanting to read for a while today. It's called The Soprano State and it is all about the corruption and crazy antics of New Jersey's politicians. I can't wait to pass it onto my dad once I have read it. I have given him snippets that he just does not believe (such as some of out 600 + school districts have no students). Unfortunately it is all true. At least it will be an interesting read.

Glasses
My Glasses were supposed to arrive Thursday (2 weeks after ordering them). I couldn't wait so I called the company to get a tracking order and make sure that they had been mailed out. The first number I called from the e-mail did not work so I scoured the e-mail to find the 800 customer service number, the original number was for information on shipped orders. I was number 10 in line and though I did not have lots of time I figured I'd wait to see how long the 'line' took. I'm glad I did as they seemed to be solving problems very quickly and in no time it was my turn.
It was not good news. My glasses have not shipped yet and they likely will not arrive until late next week. A WHOLE other week. I like my contacts but when I get up on the weekends (or when I get home for that matter) I just want to take out my contacts and be able to see clearly. That's what I get for ordering them so long after they were needed.
-I lost my other pair a few months ago, they were in rough shape and should have been replaced a year or so ago.
At least they are coming.

Long Weekend
I was supposed to have a long weekend, with today being off. My boss did not get around to approving my day off so I went to a local branch to work. He had lots of time to do it and I reminded him a few times. I was going to stay home and see what happened (i had e-mails) but pat was worried that I would get laid off/fired. Off to work I went.
The guy's at the branch were nice and on the upside I don't have to drive anyone around anymore. I did drive one guy across the street to the money order place as I completely messed up. You see he called to get the amount he owed for a money order and I gave it to him. I'm not sure if I thought today was 1/20/09 or if i didn't notice that was the date the program had billed him out to. (In the old program it you had to specify the dates, this program uses pre-filled dates that do not always match the days date apparently). It was my mistake so I drove him to fix it (in a cargo van no less).
Once my work was done I went over a celebrity gossip magazine with a coworker Larry. I'm not all that into celebrity gossip but it was entertaining today.
On the bright side the gym was not supposed to open today but Molly decided to open it anyway. Lucky for me I went back to check and she was opining up.
UPDATE: I came in Tuesday and e-mailed to have a few other vacation days approved and Matt approved Monday and left the other days unapproved. Sigh.

Experiment
Our bedroom always seems to be 5/10 degrees colder then the rest of the apartment, it sucks. I have been curious to see exactly how much colder it really is and this Christmas I was given a gadget that enables me to find out.
Enterprise gave us weather stations for the annual Christmas gift. (It apparently would not have saved them enough cash to cancel so we got the gift despite the turmoil we are currently in). It is designed to tell you the outside temp as well as the inside temp. I put the receiver for the outdoors in the bedroom to see what happened.
For the most part during the day the temperature was the same the rest of the house. In the evening it can be as much as 5 degrees colder, but only if it is really cold outside. I'm not sure if this is the plastic working or if the bedroom is actually the same temperature for the most part and it just feels colder. (insert Marriage sex joke here).
Despite what the thermostat says I plug in a heater at night to worm the room before I go to bed. On the weekends I have been known to let the room get up to 80 degrees, it's nice. and the weather station has been amusing, even if the room is not colder I can see how much warmer I can get it.

Disaster
Today I was a disaster. I'm not sure why. I got plenty of sleep and the weekend was fun and restful. Yet I arrived at work today to realize that I have no Idea what my passwords were. I locked myself out of the enterprise programs. In my defence I did reset the passwords late last week.
So I finally get them reset and I locked myself out again (their are 3 passwords that run various programs, I forgot which password went to which program). So I had to get them reset AGAIN. It was a frustrating morning.
I went to the store on the way home and thought I would quickly toss the chicken soup together and then go work out. Pat helped with some of the chopping and by cooking the chicken for the soup. But it still took forever and I finally went for a light workout at 8PM.
I got to the gym to find every machine full (except the broken one). Needless to say I took the night off.

Pat's Plan
We were originally going to Belleyare on Saturday for our ski trip. Because the Poconos got some good snow we chose to go to the closer mountain with the better snow. Pat chose to delay the trip one day hoping that the Giant/Eagles game would lead to shorter lines at the lifts and less crowds on the trails.
It seems as though he was correct. (I wonder how much $ Camelback lost due to the game). For the amount of snow that they got the lines were pretty short (though very slow moving). The trails were not nearly as crowded as I remember them being. The snow was the best I ever remember Camelback having. It was a great day for Skiing and the normal feeling of starting over was not with me that day. I felt good and Pat even said I was looking better.
It has been a few years since we have skied Camelback and they have taken the locker rooms out in favor of an expanded rental room. That means you need to come prepared to change outside or in a restroom stall. It is the WORST design for a ski 'resort' ever. I came prepared in my ski cloths but could not change into my regular cloths when we were done, which I do not like at all. I feel bad for anyone that does not know and has to change in those tiny bathroom stalls. Pat put the rest of his cloths on in the hall of the repair shop (luckly he has his lower layers on already). Changing outside is wet and cold. I doubt we will go back to Camelback anytime soon.

Snowfall
Today the snow is falling in my part of the world. This is not a common occurrence. We got about 2 inches when all was said and done. Lucky it was on a weekend this time. Thought like allot of coworkers (who were canceling plans Friday for the snow that was likely to fall Saturday) I did not stay in. It was more a fluke then anything else. In the morning I ran a few errands, I got home just in time for the Gym to open (or when it was supposed to open) I waited 15 minutes then left to get stuff to run the rest of my errands.
As I was leaving the Gym guy finally showed up. To the gym I went. Boy was I grumpy, some how a workout cleared that right up! I came out feeling refreshed and forgot (not really forgot) all about the late opening.
Anyway I did a few more errands and then settled in for the day to watch the snow fall. I miss the snow, though I'm glad i do not have to drive in it on a regular basis.

Vision
Vision is very important. I have been wearing glasses for a long time now, and I'm pretty good with them. My last pair did get very beat up (over time) and finally I had no choice but to buy a new pair. It took me a year after deciding to buy a new pair to actully do something about it. And even then It hd more to do with the loss of the last pair then the embarisment of wearing worn out crooked glasses. It's sad really. It even took a week of wearing contacts (which I actully like to do) and wanting at times to just put the glasses on and not worring about contacts for me to finally fix my situation.
Yesterday I went nuts. I only had one pair of contacts so I ordered another years supply (which may well last me 2 years, unless I switch to contacts more often. And 2 pair of Glasses. Jason sent me a webpage that sells glasses fairly cheap so I ordered 2 pairs. The glasses lillie got from them were nice so hopefully when I get mine in about 2 weeks I will like them too. if not they can be evening/weekend glasses.
It was an expensive day but thanks to health care and a flex spending account most of it should be covered/reimbursed. The vision plan is actully not bad through work, don't get me started on the regular plan.

Back to the Treadmill
I have officially started running again. I have realized that it provides a much better cardio workout for me. I feel like I have gotten way out of shape in just a few weeks (or a month) of using the elliptical only. Ideally I'll get back up to my hour run and then do the elliptical and weights a few days a week.
In the meantime ski season is among us and Hopefully this weekend we will hit the slopes (weather/trail permitting). I will not be in as good shape as I wanted but better then previous years so it should go smoother. At least I shouldn't be as soar, I'll let you know on Sunday.

Risk Taking Gene
I am missing a Gene. Both of my siblings have it to some degree, not me. I am very risk adverse. The only things I do that are mildly risky are snow mobileing and skiing. I prefer if the snow mobile is going less then 30 MPH (Pat hates when I drive). When He drives I hang on for dear life and close my eyes (and enjoy it once it is over), and some days I just stay home.
Skiing I LOVE. The first run is always awful as I am terrified. Once I have done a few runs I am great and very much enjoy myself. I just can't permanently get rid of my fear.
I'm not sure when this happened, I did want to go skydiving at some point (I was too young at the time). Maybe that 's what did it, If you stop taking risks maybe they become harder to take. What are small risks I could take to build up my tollerance? I'll have to come up with some.
David turned in his resignation yesterday to chase his dream of owning a buisness (I in no way want to buy or own a buisness). But it made me realise that I don't take many risks. (Both Lillie and David ended up skydiving by the way). I need to work on that.

A Tale of Two Babies
It comes to my attention through the blogs of my sisters that their 2 babies could not be more different. Zachery is still giving his mother sleeping issues, as in she doesn't. Evelyn is sleeping at 5 hour clips (maybe not every night) but enought that well her mother is still sleepy she is celebrating that Evelyn is sleeping more now then she did when she was born. Zachery is 2 months older then Evelyn (and has already mastered e-mail but that's another story.

The Honeymoon is Over
Gas Prices are almost back up to 1.50. I shouldn't bitch but I have no idea how high it will go and it can eat up lots of cash as I drive lots! I love Filling my tank for less then 20$ and soon that will be gone. I need to find a Job I can ride a bike to (or course I'd have to bring my bike to NJ, but I miss bike rides).
At least I have the Gym as free entertainment/stress reliever. I finally faced my laziness and got my ass back onto the treadmill. The elliptical just doesn't to enough. I feel like I am working hard but then after a few weeks of only elliptical I hit the treadmill and well, running is hard. I didn't loose all the fitness that I had but it was not my best or favorite run. Their is always tomorrow!

Dear Gym
You need to open earlier. 8am would be perfect. I just can't wait that long for breakfast. My stomach gets very painful and nauseated when I try to workout with out eating or after eating for that matter. Going later in the morning just disturbs my day even further then you already do. Drinking power aid helps but isn't a solution, I just want you to open earlier.
Maybe when I get back to my normal intensity workouts I will be happier with what you provide. But my stomach will not care and it will cause me allot of grief. I have to listen to my stomach, it has the ability to cause me lots of pain. So please consider my position and open earlier.
Thank you.

Valkyrie
Pat and I went to see a movie today. As you can tell by the title the movie we saw was Valkyrie. I think Tom makes an outstanding Nazi, something about his recently acquired crazy person Image makes me buy it. I liked the movie. It seemed to stay true to the history that I remember though I'm not sure if the end/taking control of the army was accurate (that seemed like movie drama). but it added to the story and was a good explanation as to why the assassin didn't just leave Germany. Apparently his wife lived a long and happy life, most likely because Hitler was over thrown 9 months after the attempt. Hitler had luck on his side as their were many attempts on his life, most missed him by luck.
If you go to see the movie it may be best to be slightly familiar with the story. But don't' study it in detail or you may be disappointed. The major points were accurate but it's a movie they always have to add some additional drama.

Resolutions
My resolutions this year are as follows.
Re-instate my financial diet. Christmas spending has completed yet I Still find myself shopping for stuff I do not need. I am going back on my financial diet.
Visiting the gym 6 days a week, before October I went every day. their were lots of holidays that closed the gym in October and I feel that I have not gotten my momentum back yet. I really need it back as I would like to ski this year in shape. It can only help keep my legs from being quite as sore. I think taking one day off isn't so bad but I will count this a success if I go every day too. Maybe bringing back my weekend walks too. (That may have to wait until it gets warm again.)
Eat healthier. Ok, so I just went out and purchased 2 almost 1/2 gallons of Ice cream. Treats in small portions are good things. Besides once pat has a few bowls they will be mostly gone anyway. I will cook more meals with veggies in it or veggies as side dishes. I love veggies but have been skipping them lately (for dinner).
Update the blog every day. I have been trailing off again. Just in time for my mom to mail my blog address out to family and friends in the Christmas letter. I have started and left 2 blogs already (and one I moved here with out a break). They are all consolidated here, but I let few people know because of my predisposition for leaving them behind. I will continue the blog, on a daily basis.
Good luck to you in all your resolutions!
Happy New Year!
It is nice to have a day off in the middle of the week. I got some returns done as well as some other shopping. Pork tenderloin with pineapple was on the menu for the day, cooked in my new slow cooker of course. The slow cooker is very large and makes me wonder how that will affect how often we use it. The smaller one made just enough food for pat and I. This one would cook allot more. it's too bad we can's get a smaller pot for the bigger crock pot, hopefully it will not dry out the smaller portions and it will be just as useful as the smaller one. I got the larger one to do roasts or whole chickens, not thinking about the smaller meals we normally cook in it.
The rest of the day was spent watching the outdoor hockey game and the Rose bowl. Watching the outdoor hockey game made me wish that we would have gone this year as well. Last year's game was great, though the weather was not ideal. They had to clean off the ice more often then normal making it a very long game. This year it was windy and cold but the ice did not interrupt the game. The wind helped make it a fairly high scoring game (6-4), unfortunately the teams took turns scoring making it slightly less exciting. In the end I do like the outdoor games, they just have extra excitement!
The Rose bowl was not a close game so I watched pieces. The highlights of the game were the announcers announcing to the world that someone should tell Penn State that they are not playing Purdue (we were bad this year but that is HARSH!). And another announcer commenting on how one of the players (SC) looks great in the uniform, he just fills it in just right. There were a few great throws and catches but the announcing was strange. It made watching the not so close game worth it.
I have to work tomorrow but it is only one day. Then I get a nice relaxing weekend. As a bonus all the shopping/returns are done.
